Yes you can short the Battery Master out and it will simply turn its self off. If your going to extend the wires, good practice would be to fuse the run.
Best to connect at the split charge relay or housing unit though so no need for additional fusing as the wires would already be fused.
Thank you Eddievanbitz. I am in the process of installing solar and have in fact extended the wires from the battery master located under my seat to the cab battery. On reflection I should have supplied this information in my original post (so apologies Techno for this oversight).I plan to connect the positive wire directly to the cab battery as I don't have the knowledge to connect to the relay.
