i have to work in filton for basically the whole of August. I want to take the motorhomefun and wife . Preferably on a site with good facilities showers etc price is of little importance but distance to filton is. Baltic wharf is fully booked and I can't find anywhere suitable

Anyone any ideas, I'm a member of every club .

I think Bristol Parkway station is close to Filton so perhaps look for some sites on that rail line. Bath maybe?

I really can't think of anything around, or even near, Filton.
Even using the train, you could have a long walk depending on where you're working.
even if you're using a car from motorhome into work you'd be driving from the Bath side of the city, unless there are any sites Chew Valley area.

Hi I visit Bristol regularly to visit family.
Not many campsites with reasonable access to Filton only suggestion is two CL s at Aust close to Severn Bridge. We have used both with no complaints. Also there is an upmarket campsite at Chipping Sodbury name Little Wood. We have not stayed there so can't give a rating.
If your wife will be with you will she need public transport, shop nearby etc.?
My problems of staying in Bristol were finally solved by access to family Drives.
Would like to help so if you like if you pm your telephone no. we could speak.

I'll be working at the nhsbt blood service in Filton. Unfortunately the wife doesn't drive or I'd take the car as well and stay wherever I like . I have an electRic bike and maybe able to get people to pick me up to get to work. I've looked and there seems to be a definite lack of sites anywhere close

Now you have my total sympathy!! Been there etc, etc!
Maybe there is a member who lives nearby with a large drive.

I've had a look on UK Campsite, which gives a few options.

Easiest sites with facilities are
http://www.tudorcaravanpark.com/ (north of Bristol A38)
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=7751 (north of Bristol A38)
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2751 (Bath but quite easy along ring road)
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=1638 (Bath but quite easy along ring road)
http://www.bathchewvalley.co.uk/ (Lovely, not too far, South of Bristol but busy route, maybe an hour each way)

Closest sites without facilities (or CLs)
http://www.hayfieldscl-bristol.com/home.html (probably the easiest from filton)
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=7711
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=10639
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=10613

Hope this helps !

About an hour's drive away is Glastonbury ... Willow Dragon Farm ... £12 per night. Your wife could then walk into Glastonbury .. ten minute walk ... and get the bus to Wells, Shepton Mallet, Yeovil or Bristol to name but a few places. There is no electric hookup but if you have a solar panel should be no problem... a really relaxing place.

You could try Hortham Farm which is a CL i think. Just been there to have some damp looked at and it isn't far from Filton but is a walk to anywhere.

As said, train stations Bristol Parkway & Filton Abbey Wood very close - both approx 2 miles? - direct lines to all sorts of places.

Haven't visited, but this looks like it might suit - about 4.5 mile cycle ride to Filton NHSBT - it's a Caravan Club CL (I think you need to log in before you can see the details but this is the link)

That's great advice if you don't mind a CL, it's really close, easily bikeable.

@Chris has the best alternative. Stay at one of the Bath sites then commute, Bath Spa to Bristol Parkway. About a 20min walk from each station. Good plan that, and plenty to keep the missus occupied (y)
