Itinerant is a pejorative slang term used mainly in the United Kingdom to refer to Irish Travellers, gypsies or people of low social class

I think the description from Wikipedea gives the average thoughts of a Itinerant - certainly I would never ever call a true Romany a Itinerant - worth going on Wiki to read the whole page

The connotation and linkage of gypsies to petty theft, crime and general low socioeconomic activities is well-entrenched, as the text Understanding Representation states:
"Itinerant is one of the negative words associated with gypsies: people who fight and steal equals 'Itinerants'. It includes fortune-tellers such as the famous Gypsy Rose Lee..."[11]
In 1937, then-Senator Harry S Truman compared the financiers of the 1930s, whom he called "pikers",[3] to bank robber Jesse James.
Itinerant remained, as of 1989, common prison slang for Romani people or those who have a (perceived) similar lifestyle of itinerant unemployment and travel.[12]
More recently, Itinerant was applied to Irish Travellers (also known as tinkers and knackers) and non-Roma Gypsies.[13][14] In the late 20th century, it came to be used to describe "a lower-class person, regarded as coarse or disreputable."[7][15]

Wonder why people feel the need to use "pegorative" terms.

We spent the last two weeks on a site with some 'Itinerant' families, also some motorhomers whose lifestyles were quite different from ours and even some fulltime caravanners whose company we enjoyed.

The 'Itinerants', with their white transits, recovery trucks and twin axle caravans, were fairly pleasant people. They chatted about our tortoise, our kids played happily with their kids and all the other kids, we gave them a bag of sugar and they gave us a bottle of olive oil.

Decent folk, really.
Maybe we each get the Itinerants we deserve.

This post on a couple of other motorhome forums I know would have caused a few spit dummys and toys out of prams:ROFLMAO:

This thread is a credit to Funsters and shows how to properly respond to such an obvious wind-up-merchant. Clearly this poster did not get the response they were trying for. Better luck next time Mr Troll:moon::roflmto:
