Hi We are visiting Montpon in a few weeks and plan to head down to Argeles sur mer before following the coast towards Adge and back via Millau.

I'm not really sure what to do in the bit in between Montpon and Argeles. I don't want to spend forever driving but don't mind a detour and a nights stop off somewhere if its worth it.

So any ideas? We have done Carcassonne. are there any gems of a place that are nice to see?

Happy to stop at aires/campsites. Or should we just head straight to the coast?

I'd be tempted to head towards the Pyrenees but then you could easily make a whole holiday out of that journey.

Perhaps a visit to Villefranche-de-Conflent, catching Le Petit Train Jaune through the mountains ?

Can't tell you how much we enjoyed it, and only an hour or two from Argeles (y)

We are passing up through that area at the end of May and like the look of the Train, and will try to stop for two nights and fit it in. Did you have a nice site close by?

Plenty of sites and aires in the area.

We stayed on the aire at Mont Louis (other end of train line about an hour's drive from Villefranche).http://en.airecampingcar.com/aire_camping_car_gps.php/323-Mont%20Louis http://www.campercontact.com/en/fra...s/8633/motorhome-parking-aire-municipale.aspx

It's just outside the old city wall and 20min walk to the station.

We also stayed at Broken Link Removed great scenery and walking but maybe a little too far away from the station.(just looked, might also be closed end of May !)

Would go back in an instant, a world away from the Med but actually quite close !

Oh no that looks fabulous! Why does there have to be so much to do in France!! First thoughts are that le petit train Jaune looks a bit off route on slow roads but definitely worth a thought! Not sure how nice the weather would be in May?
