from brugge to brussells on train or park & ride (1 Viewer)

when we go to brugges we want to go to brussells for the day to visit the christmas market

anybody know if it is better to go on the train for the day 13 euro return each (times 5) or is there a park and ride or something that can take a motorhome 7.35 meters long and is safe to leave it for the day

personally i'd let the train take the strain...

park and rides etc will be very busy for the very reason you want to go to brussels.....christmas market visitors.

Catching trains and trams in Belgium is dead easy, I would use that.

Also you should go to Oostende next summer to this event, seems it would be appropriate Paulusfeesten - van 11 - 17 augustus 2009 in Oostende

Also half an hour away is Ypres, the last post ceremony at the Menin gate at 8pm every night is awesome.. as is Hill 60 and Hill 62, and Tyne Cott Cemetery... Link Removed

Belgium is a great place...

The train definately is more relaxing everyone does Brugges and Brussels - look a bit further down the alphabet and try Ghent - a really lovely city like most Belgian cities based around water and has many historic links with Britain - well worth a visit

As everybody sez - use thet train to Bruxelles - just make sure you know which station you want,
Ghent is also great - but the station is a little further out of the centre so you'll need a bus / tram as well if you opt for that
could also try Antwerp, we went a few years ago but they were busy re-building all central area roads n stuff - said we go back sometime when they'd finished but not got around to it yet

I can only re-iterate what others have said - train is the way to go.

Bruges is one of the lovliest european cities, and well worth spending time in. Bruxelles , less so, but they certainly do the christmas market very well.

if you stay on Brugge aire it is a very short stroll to the train station.
