Basically, don't expect much now the beam's been tightened up - we have a 55cm dish and over the last couple of weeks couldn't get anything other than Sky News and junk channels on Freesat in the Biarritz area and all through Spain down to Ronda in the south west. The last place we got any mainstream channels was Poitiers in France, although we didn't make a stop between there and Biarritz.

Has anyone had any luck in the Bordeaux area or anywhere south of there?

Well you should still be able to get most of the Sky channels.

But yes, your 55cm dish is simply too small to receive the free to air main uk channels - which is not surprising, and covered in posts on here earlier - where spain in the Valencia area an 80/85cm dish can just about get the channels.

We picked up all the BBC and ITV channels down at the Arrochan basin and that was using a Maxview Crankup dish which is around 550mm

If you have reasonable internet connection, then there is a service called FilmOn (http://www.filmon.com/), have used this on an Android tablet with the FilmOn app and was able to watch ITV ITV1+1 BBC etc..., oh yes free of charge. Only costs if you wish to record or no ads. Wouldn't say it was perfect but much better than expected even watched a film on it about 2 hours, with only 2 small disruptions (had to restart the app) ads can be irritating but for free it was very good.

Since 2007. But no more.
One day, it must be possible to receive UK TV channels via Wi Fi, or can it be done already ? This is my mission to find out something at NEC show.
Phil

It's perfectly possible now, but you need a very good signal and bandwidth.

Internet TV uses about 1gb per half hour so you also need a good data allowance too.

If you get the right receiver, and know how to use BISS codes, you can get UK TV almost anywhere in Europe, on Intelsat 907 @27.5 West.

I had hoped Virginmedia "TV Anywhere" would be the answer, fine in the UK via wifi providing you have a tivo box at home. Once you cross the "Mer" seems to be a no go.
