Humax make the only Freesat+HD (Freetime) box available these days.
They work fine in Spain...as long as your dish is large enough for where you are in Spain to a) receive the freesat data signals (for the EPG) and b) the signals that carry the channels you want.

Another vote for Humax and the good value of their re-furbished units (y)

The Humax HB1000S is a Freesat box, without a built in hard drive (you need to supply and connect an external USB HDD for the PVR abilities). This is the only Freesat box I know of with PVR functions (but only if you have the external USB HDD!)

The Humax HDR1100S is a Freesat+ box, which has built in HDD for the PVR functions.

Most other Freesat boxes are not PVRs.
That is what the "+" is on the boxes...

What size dish would one need please?

AFAIK The dishes the Uk contingent use in Spain are far too big for a motorhome and limited to sites . However we can watch the major news programs and some of the BFBO stuff on our 90cms dish or you can watch filmon on 3g if you feel inclined.

I frequently watch the F1 or football in german as their channels dont seem to have any 'licensing issues'

We used our humax free sat hdr box on Bonterra park in Benicassim. Rented a cable attached to a neighbour 3 metre dish and attached it to our box as we only had a 64 centimetres dish. That's the only place in Spain we could get it.. We can't carry a 3 metre dish. Cost us €1 a day.

i cant find a standard freesat box with pvr!
"Standard Definition" Freesat boxes have not been manufactured for a few years now.
(And I dont think there were any Freesat SD pvrs.)
Only HD.
Like I said, currently Humax make two pvrs...one with a built in HDD, one without.
So make your choice between those

i cant see how to make the existing one pvr
Maybe your existing one is not a pvr.
You cannot make a box a pvr if it is not a pvr!
Difficult to say anymore without knowing what you "existing one" is...

By the way, an update...
The Humax HB-1000S Freesat HD Freetime Digital Box is no longer manufactured.
It has been replaced by the Humax HB-1100S Freesat HD Receiver (now with wifi)

So both current Humax boxes now look the same, one (HDR 1100s) with internal HDD, and the smaller (HB 1100S) without.
