I have just received an offer from Microsoft for a full free version of Windows 10. The download will take place on the 29th of June and I can install it anytime after that or delete it.
I'm sure it's a genuine offer as I have purchased software from Microsoft in the past.
Has anyone else received this offer and more importantly has anyone any experiance of using Windows 10.
I use windows 7 and very happy with it.

Free, but will it be free of bloat, bugs, and vulnerabilities. I doubt it, but you can always rely on early installers to find out for us. Thanks chaps ;)

Perhaps Jim but these would be resolved through free updates (for life) and at some stage they are going to stop supporting previous versions. I expect only a few more years for Windows 7 updates.

Windows 7 is due to be supported until 2020. However, I suspect if uptake of Windows 10 is much the same as Windows 8 then they will probably extend support beyond that as they did with XP.
Does the update offer an easy way back to Windows 7?

way back? I doubt it unless you do a fresh reinstall. Everyone it seems has this upgrade offer. I think I'll wait and see how other people who have the patience to reinstall should they need to give it a fair trial.

They tend to get it right every other launch. I have no idea what 8 is like as I am still happy with 7 so using this logic then 10 could be a real winner.(y)

They won't win nearly as much as they might have 10 years ago. Over 60% of the traffic on Fun is through tablets and phones. Thankfully most people don't need windows these days.

Windows 10 was developed with tablets and phones in mind. Proper interaction between pc and phone can only be progress. Given time who knows who the mobile market leader will be.

Unfortunately we have to use Windows at work. I, like most, dislike it. Unfortunately I also have to fix all the PCs when they have issues.
If someone gave me a Windows phone I would give it away.
I would not consider a Windows Tablet.
If I could delete all the interactive environment junk on my xBox (so it was purely a game console) I would.

I have a Mac in my office too. I haven't had any issues for six years (unlike every Windows PC in the building).

I just want to use software applications as I need to use them. Unfortunately using a PC as a PC means the user doesn't engage enough with their brand  so everything needs to change

    Yawn

Having seen Windows mobile, I seriously doubt MS will be leading the Market.

Can you send it to me please. Got a Windows phone and much prefer it to Android. Wouldn't give Apple the money.
There again I use it as a phone (and calendar + Office) and heehaw else. Oh, and Here Maps when wandering around town.

Anyway, not a prompt to start the what's best argument. Just getting my request for the Windows phone when you get it!(y);)

The thing I like about windows as opposed to I pad is the ability to drag and drop , to copy and move files to and from different sources. It is more flexible and user friendly especially in its earlier forms 7 and before.
