hi were planing on going to france last 2 weeks in aug from calais we want to head towards le rochelle over a 2 week peroid can any one advise on good camp sites to stay at please as much info as poss thank you

Wherever you go on the coast in mid-August it will be busy, so unless you book be prepared to move on if the first choice is full. You may well find that sites have space, but that space is cheek by jowl with others. In August sites away from the coast may offer more space, and looking at your interests, your choice of walks to a bar may be more pleasant

Have done that run a couple of times. We stayed at campsites just north of Blois, near Chambord. Can't remember the names, unfortunately, though you should be able to google them. Blois is roughly halfway.

We are currently at La Oceana very near La Rochelle.. Nice facilities, quiete at moment, probs due to rain, rain and more rain!!!!!
