A little way south of Carcassonne is the picturesque village of Lagrasse. If you're heading on a roughly easterly track up to Reims you've got the Pont du Gard & Ouzes (camping near Pont du Gard), Nimes, Avignon (Camping Bagatelle close to river), the Ardeche Gorge near Vallon Pont d'Arc (numerous riverside sites down there), and Dijon (municipal site so close to river it has flood evacuation instructions). All worth a look in my opinion.

Further up towards the atlantic near Marmande you will find a lovely little aire in Fontet, right on the canal. Check it out on www.campingcar-infos.com and go to 'les aires campingcars' and click on 'chercher par le nom' and type in Fontet.
You will find lots of others on this site.
