Forgot to pay - Calais beach (1 Viewer)

We normally stop off in the Cite d'Europe if overnighting in Calais but our trip last week was to broaden our horizons and we ended up at the port aire on Sat 13th. We had booked into the Cote d'argent and after enjoying a lovely meal and some wine we discovered that we were due to pay 8 Euros by phone. We decided we were in no state to cope with that at night and thought we would remember in the morning.
Anyway we forgot and presumably are now wanted criminals in France. Does anyone know the implications?
For the record we stopped off in the Cite d'Europe last Thursday and we were the only van there. Two nights in Calais and we saw no migrants.

Don't quite follow this, is it a campsite or what, if you had to pay why wasn't someone around , if you could get out without a barrier ,dont get why you have to pay or is it just a car park, either road if you want to why not pay by phone now, but don't see how anyone is going to catch up with you for 8 euros.

That's new.

Once when we stayed there someone came round and collected the money. The other times we haven't paid at all.

We useualy stay at gravelines, and there is a machine there that you pay with a credit card, we always do but have seen the majority, especially French don't and no one knows any different unless the bloke comes round , only ever seen him once , and the French were long gone then.

Sorry it's the Aire at the port - great Michelin restaurant, good chip van and watch the boats enter and leave the port.

I think this sign went up last year.
A bloke also comes round for the money but they never used to bother this time of year so you've probably got away with it.
I wonder how he would know if you've paid by phone anyway?

Yeah I gathered that after reading your post again, sorry thought you had parked at the restaurant, but even so don't think you have got anything to worry about.

We do not have a phone with that type of credit on the contract.

The Cote d'argent is an excellent way to start/end a holiday - recommended.
