Been searching on here can't find....

Adding a second 110ah battery... what diameter cable required? I know biggest is best, just trying to add capacity to existing 110ah not inverter etc. I dont know what the existing size is so anyone know an average?

Cross section or amperage would be very helpful. ie 25mm sq or 170amps

Anyone know?

10 or 12sq mm will be fine if the batteries are within a metre of each other. Cable sizing for low voltage D C wiring is based more on volt drop at required current than on safe capacity.

OD of 25mm2 cable is 10mm if that helps (170A), that's what I used to join two batteries.

As said by @tonyidle

Buy 10 sq mm made up battery leads here.. various lengths and terminal sizes.. handy if you don't have the proper crimping tool

Note ..

cable is sized in cross sectional area .. ie ... sq mm ..

it is not sized by outside diameter

Must be a few. I'm not active but I put the call sign on to fish out the hidden ones. It hasn't worked very well☺. There's a thread somewhere about it.

When wiring in extra batteries you only really need use wire capable of handling the absolute maximum you are going to draw and charge at..

If you do not use an inverter then something like AWG 8 or 10 would be right

A very high proportion of readers still would have no concept of what that is size wise, at least with mm they have a clue
