Five weeks in Portugal/Spain arriving Santander. We enjoy coastal areas for walks and cycling. The only large city I would like to visit is Lisbon. Were should I go?, and were should I avoid?

Campsite recommendations welcome.

If you get down this far, this is a very pleasant, friendly MH site
www.parqueautocaravanasalbufeira.com (Pedro is a Funster!)
It's within cycling distance from the beach, Albufeira, the Marina, etc. I would also recommend a Coastal boat trip in the Alzirinha, which can be booked at the site! ::bigsmile:

Seville is a must , a fabulous city and makes Lisbon look like a poor relation, also try camping la bella vista near Manilva
A beach front site with large hard standings and water grey and 16amp on every pitch plus wi fi not cheap at 24 Euro but the best quality we have found on our current trip
Have fun :thumb:

Not Long Enough...!!
Seville as said is a place to see, We stayed at Gelves which is a working gated marina outside sevilla. Plenty of shops nearby and easy access into Sevilla by Bus/Train.

Palencia is another lovelly place to visit (the old town that is) a great easy access carpark Aire. If you get there make sure it covers a weekend as all get dressed up in sunday best and walk around chill in the street cafe's.

Morella is another one, the Aire is on opposite side to valley looking towards it. Again it has to be a weekend as the fortress walls are all lit up at night.

Many more but will stop rambling as its bringing back fond memories of these places and wanting to visit them again...:whatthe:

Might help if we knew when you are going,Easter is very busy in Spain not so busy in Portugal. Do you intend to tour all the coast of both countries, it's a long way.

Camping Hortensias, La Franca. On beach good for trips to Picos de Europa.
Sites near Luarca
Galician coast....Sanjenjo
Orbitur sites in N.Portugal, on the Ria Minho, Povoa de Varzim, Praia de Mira
Alcacer do Sal
Lagoa de Sto Andre(Vila Nova de Sto Andre)
Vila Nova de Milfontes
Camping Ria Formosa, Cabanas de Tavira
Camping La Aldea, El Rocio
Camping Los Escullos, Almeria
Camping Ribamar, Alcossebre.

We have visited and enjoyed all these places with a caravan or fifth wheeler but not everybody likes what we like.

Forget Lisbon, the city to visit in Portugal IMHO is Porto.

There are many great cities in Spain and 5 weeks may not be long enough.

Cordoba, Toledo, Seville, Cadiz, Jerez, Malaga, etc etc etc.

Planning to go via Santander on the the 26th April returning Cherbourg on the 30th May. Would like to go south for the heat.

Couple of loose ends to tie up yet before conformation of final dates.
