what an introduction to MH'ing.

Set off for Ullapool on Saturday, weather not bad but wet, got to destination and hooked up, had a meal out and few beers then back MH. We thought Katy (the storm) had arrived. :cold:

Saturday night was bad, the van was rocking all right, poor VW next door had to put the roof down, we had two firemen out side all night with their hoses on full blast at the MH all night. Poor George (the Pointer) got into bed with us and shook like a leaf in a storm all night, so none of us got any sleep.

In the morning we let George out and he wouldn't get back in, just stood there shaking !
The Mh which we had put on the ramps had settled into the ground and we were well and truly stuck, a few of us needed a tractor to pull us out. I had to dig out the ramps.

Sunday was a bit better, but I think poor George is not a fan of Mh'ing and will take some convincing. I hope it improves :cautious:

Had a very similar experience in Cornwall on Friday night. We were staying on a CC site directly overlooking the sea, the van shook all night ( not from any monkey business !) and we did not get any sleep. Having booked in for two nights returned home after one given the forecast. Also got stuck in the mud and had to be helped off the pitch by the wardens. However, this was after 9 days touring the south west with generally dry weather. Overall had a great time.

Lesson learnt though, sites next to the sea are best left tor the summer !

We stayed at Camping Caradon over the Easter weekend. It's a private site located midway between Looe and Polperro. The pitches look to be on grass but the owner has plastic grids underneath so even when things turned grim on Friday night, we had no problems getting away - one day early - on Sunday morning. The other time we stayed there was back in 2009 when we still lived in Yorkshire. They run a nice site. Bar, good food, good prices (if that's your thing) and good, clean facilities. £70 for four nights hook-up at Easter is pretty good. Next trip will be Croyde in four weeks, on grass, so hoping the weather gods are smiling then.
