enjoyed the freedom over the last couple of years but still Wish we could have got away more often
Hi All,

Finally the time arrived last Tuesday to collect our Swift Sundance 590 RL and we loaded it up ready to depart on Friday for the weekend and a trip to the New Forest about 2 1/2 hr drive.

Sadly Mrs Jane developed a cold on Thursday morning closely followed by me in the Afternoon, but having looked forward to our first trip for so long we decided we would still rather get away than sit at home.

First Motorhome we saw in the opposite direction gave us a cheery wave which lifted our spirits as we quickly waved back before they passed.

We had a great time and met more friendly motorhomers one of which kindly lent us a hozelock screw on connector so we could fill up with water (unfortunately missing from the starter kit the dealer gave to us FOC as a tempter after we had already decided to go ahead. hee hee)

We also braved it and left our pitch on the second day for a trip to the coast. Had a great time paddling along the edge of the sea and introducing our dog to splashing in the sea (wimped out, we had our wellies on) and then enjoyed some hot soup whilst watching the sea view from inside our lounge.

Having wanted a Transit chassis, super impressed with Fiat Ducato Multi jet, only disappointment was the Truma Ultrastore running on hook up which as Mrs Jane stepped in the shower had cooled to about 38 degrees before bothering to warm up again. With an ambient temp of about 7 degrees the cold water was freezing and what she had to use to rinse off her shampoo (very unhappy bunny.)

Planning our next trip. We have a Christening to attend this weekend so will have to wait until next weekend.

Might have to swop Truma Ultrastore for Malaga 5e (had one in our horsebox) never let us down and did not need rinse on rinse off technique (13.5 litre tank.)

Otherwise perfect, WE ARE HOOKED

Hope to get to a rally one weekend and our sticker has arrived and is firmly fixed to windscreen.

@Paul an Jane MK , glad you had a great first trip. Our first trip was in the Forest as well and so has the 10 or so other trips out as we only live along the coast Portsmouth end. Which site did you use?

Hi, We stayed at Setthorns camp site. Only a tap and waste disposal but really peaceful and you even get the deer and ponies wandering around the campsite.

Definitely go again.

Love Setthorns too. My Favourite used to be Roundhill, but having spent a few days at Oknell, I am easily swayed to use this site now. A lot of hard standing as it was an Airfield. No EHU and no showers but it does have a toilet block.

Sounds idyllic. Thanks for the write-up. We always love to hear about other people's adventures. We're going to Devon for a week this year, then stopping in Dorset for one night followed by a few nights in the New Forest before returning home to Lincolnshire. So, your post was particularly interesting. Glad you had such a good time.

Hello and lovely to hear you enjoyed your first trip( except for the shower)!! We have perfected the shower technique ! Less soap and shampoo ,turn off shower when soaping and a much quicker experience than home or campsite!!
Once we had a life before a motorhome!! Can't remember much!! ;)
Enjoy your next trip!!(y)

There is an art in showering in a MH. There is neither the water capacity not the heat capacity to shower as normal. Wet - Water off - Soap - Scrub - Rinse.

Hello, sounds as if you are going to get lots of pleasure from your Motorhome life, lots of trial and error but most things can be sorted, as already said you need to adjust the way you use the shower else you will be running out of water very often, and you are not the first newbie to come across the shower adjustment procedure.:pink:

Glad you enjoyed your maiden voyage.
Not funny stood in the shower, that tiny space and can't escape the sudden gush of cold water is it??? It always seems to come out faster when it's cold too!!
Still lesson learnt and glad you are loving the lifestyle.

Thank you, for all you comments and totally understand recommended shower procedure but it would appear boiler faulty on mains, if it had been on gas she might have had half a chance LoL
