hi , if your heading straight down to algarve, aires in palencia and caceres, both good stop off towns, also excellent town centre one in leon, enjoy the algarve loads of places to stay. oops by the way the towns mentioned on way down are in spain.

What do you two like doing?

How long for and when do you want to visit Portugal?

Are you "park up at a campsite and sun bathe" people?

Do you like "off-site" parking?

Do you want to be with lots of other folk or do you prefer peace and quiet and a level of solitude?

Do you like castles, churches, Roman ruins?

I am of the opinion that Portugal can offer something for everyone.

JJ

Hello, will tag along on this one as we are also thinking of "doing" Portugal for the first time in our MH. We however will be crossing over in mid Feb from Huelva, (Spain) rather than from up North.
Any advice on Algarve Aires and/or nice - cheap? - campsites would be most welcomed as would any recommended Old traditional towns and historical architectures etc.

Planning to take 5/6 days meandering from San Sebastian to south Portugal, then spend similar amount of time in one place on a coast location.
We like to visit to see the real Portugal, towns, villages, castles etc, preferably staying at a site location where we can either venture around some where in the evening for a drink, or just say around the MH.

Our basic idea is to travel across northern Spain into northern Portugal, then heading south to the coast.

Any info/recommendations gratefully received

In my signature you will find a link to a selection of Aires/Camper Stops that have been visited by us or recommended by others. I have collected these over years travelling down each winter and trying them out.
They are all on Google Maps so accessible on PC Android or iPhone if you have a WiFi connection.
Safe travelling
