Just been told our very first motorhome a Benimar Mileo 243 arrived at the docks on Thursday and on its way to the dealer in Preston. Really excited, hope they don't take too long preparing it! Been busy shopping, not sure what to do over getting a satellite dish or buying something like a Cello TV with satellite receiver built in, any advice welcome.

Great, hope it arrives soon!
Have done without tv for last three years of travelling, just have DVD player as a back up. Maybe try without to start with? You might find you need/would like whole internet package via satellite.

We like our various soaps and documentaries so we watch quite a bit of tv.
We have decided to ditch our satellite system and go for a recordable freeview box which most of all new vans have an aerial fitted.
Enjoy your new van exciting isn't it?

Hi and welcome I would hang fire with the satellite dish and enjoy your motorhome for a few months you can then decide lots of new vans come with a TV aerial and this will be all you need for UK TV.

Satellite useless for overseas anyway further than mid france so you have a useless dishcluttering up the roof.
Get a tv that gives you subtitles for foreign language tv, I think Avtex does that.sorted!

:hiya2: And :welcome3:
A TV with satellite decoder built in still needs either a dish or a dome

I really like pod casts while driving - then enjoy the peace without TV - my friend doesn't even have a radio in his MH.

Soak up the place your in and the people around you.

Finally picked up our new MH from Marquis Preston last Monday, drive home a bit scary, have towed a caravan before and driven many vans over the years but narrow lanes and lots of stop starts in Preston then torrential rain and high winds on the M6/M56/A55, I was relieved to get back in one piece.
Initially could not change km to miles on both satnav and trip meters, took 3 days to sort after reading the manual ove and over again.
Worked all week and spent time each evening playing with it and adding the vast array of accessories purchased over the past few weeks.
Cello TV arrived on Thursday, fitted and tuned, we live in a poor signal area so not many channels, bbc mainly. Weight of tv makes fitted bracket droop a bit .
Booked 2 nights at a site about 1 hour away for yesterday and tonight.
Set of after work and drove about 200 yards, the road narrows then just before it widened again a Mercedes came towards us looked like enough room, then THWAKK!!
One Mercedes mirror down.

Mirror guards well worth the cost,

Rest of journey uneventfull, arrived at Is Helen , lovely site.

Next problem was the WC, where to put the flush additive, gave up don't think our version of thetford has that facility,

Opened the wine, heated the stew and settled back to watch coronation street.

Another Benimar Mileo owner! That makes you doubly welcome.
Personal view is totally forget about tv, rediscover books and conversation. :)
