Hi,

We have just bought our first motorhome having been touring caravaners for years (children have fled the nest). Looking for recommendations on good sites around the UK and Europe. Also tips on motorhoming.

Another welcome, this time from Bedfordshire.
Motorhomes are expensive but touring does not have to be. In the UK you may wish to try out BritStops, these are pubs, farms, and an odd assortment of places to park free, with the courtesy of buying some product. A nice evening meal in a pub = an overnight parking spot at selected pubs.
Once out of the UK there are in addition to commercial campsites and Municipal campsites, Aires. These are often free or for a nominal charge, a place to obtain drinking water, empty the toilet and park overnight; there are thousands of them, These can be found in a book called 'Camperstop' or 'All the Aires France' from Vicarious books in Folkstone. There are many other publications and attachments to your mini computers, but these may be good to start off with.

We did the same the biggest thing we have found is the freedom to leave or set up at a moments notice means we don't use sites as such with all the facilities much we roam a night at the most 2 and use either small cl's or in France free aires. There are also those on here who like to park up get out the sun lounger and flop depends on what you want to do. Suggest you go to France and try the aires for a week or 2 .
