Last week we were watching a blackbird feeding two or three young in a nest in a bush just outside our front window. On Sunday we noticed there was no activity. When I checked I found one part fledged chick dead in the nest but hopefully the others flew whilst we were in Whitby on Saturday.

Been enjoying mr and mrs blackbirds company since last year

They don't seem to worry about us in the garden

Now they bring the chicks to visit

This afternoon 30 mnth granddaughter was throwing cheese

Out for them and they came within 8 feet of us

Went away last Thursday - on Friday I saw a blackbird gathering dried grass etc. watched for a while and then heard a fluttering at the front of the van - opened the bonnet and this is what we found... Blackbird nest 270413.jpg
