    Decision made, off to Italy and Croatia next year.:BigGrin:

    Looking through various old threads it seems that many of the sostas do not have fresh water available.:Sad:

    Many of them also seem to be guarded or under survellience, are we at risk on rural sostas?:cry: and,

    Is it similar to France that cemetries usually have a tap that I could use to top up?:Wink:

    Thanks:Smile:

    The Romans brought law and order, roads, irrigation, medicine, wine, public baths, sanitation, education, aquaducts, etc.

    There must be an aquaduct somewhere!:Laughing:

    Sorry! hope this bumps it up!:thumb:

    All of the Aires we used around the lakes had water (from a tap!), but cost about 10 - 12 euros a night, some of them included electric for this price, the campsites we looked at near the lakes were ridiculous so we passed up on their request for 4euro per dog on top of another 30 odd euro/night and kept to the Aires.

    No problem getting water, but:::::

    We were in Italy last year, and at out first sosta, in the north, we filled up with the free water there. It was in the hills in a town with spa water.

    I have no doubt that the water was safe to drink, but it tasted absolutely awful, and it took some weeks to get the taste out of the tank. We finished up buying bottled water (which I know some people do anyway but we don't if we can trust the water).

    So if you want to drink the water, taste before filling up!

    I believe that water (good water) forms the majority part of Chianti etc....

    Shouldn't be a problem now:thumb::Angry::Angry:
