Hi,
I suppose this been asked many times and if so I apologise in advance.
Can anyone tell me their experiences of the fiat JTD 2.8L 127cv engine.

Miles per gallon or litres per 100 k ( I know it's a bit like asking how long is a piece of string because it depends how it's driven but generally) also performances, reliability etc.

Thanks

MPG will depend on the size of body and the weight of the pilots right foot. The engine itself is well respected and generally trouble free with correct maintenance.

since 2007, 25 years tuggin before that.
Mine originally did 21mpg(average over 7000 miles) with low 5th gear(2300rpm @ 60mph).
I changed the 5th gear to a high ratio (1800rpm @ 60mph) & had the it "chipped".
It then gave 26.5mpg oaverage over 9000 miles.
All running an overcab CI at about 3800kg, cruising at 60mpg & using (aftermarket) cruise control where possible.
It was very reliable, the only issues we had was a faulty injector lead & a stuck turbo wastegate(common faults).

Thanks for the above, the MH I'm looking at is a challenger low profile 6m in length. 2006 0r a Benimar 6m low profile 2009 this has a multi jet engine and is a good bit more expensive.
Is the multi jet engine a good deal more economic to run?

Not in my experience
The 2.8 was better on fuel than this 3.0
Both vans are similar in size & weight

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
Our 3 Ltr was remapped and we averaged 27mpg can`t grumble at that for a 5 ton non aerodynamic Motorhome with 6 tyres on the road.

We have a 2.8 in a Dethleffs A Class and have averaged 24.97 mpg to date. This is over 3,000 miles on motorway at 65 ish and back roads.
