I have a really annoying problem with the speedo on my bessacar fiat ducato jtd.

When starting from cold it does not work for about 10-15 minutes then suddenley just comes on . Sometimes it will stop again whilst driving but usually its from startup
I suspect the fuel guage is faulty as well but I can live with that
anyone any ideas re the speedo??

Have always camped, caravaned or had boats. Now in our second year with the motorhome.
Not familiar with the fiat but one would presume that it is a loose connection either on the back of the speedo itself or on the sensor, wherever that is.

A Woosh bang
Possible: Faulty sender unit

Hi

From a thread on the Fiat forum, it could be a faulty sender unit ..

Just had the same problem a couple of weeks ago with my 2002 Ducato Mk2 based motorhome.
The problem is the speedo 'sending unit' mounted on the back of the gearbox.
You will also find that it affects the engine performance as it also feeds a signal to the engine management unit.
Part cost £53.
Easy to replace.
I have complained to Fiat UK about the premature failure of this part.(9000 miles.) Don't suppose they will bother replying!!!
