Could someone tell me why there is a option to put the legs of your wind out awning on to the side of the van, what are the pros and cons ( apart from screwing something to the side of the van ?)

You put the legs into the brackets on the van when you are on hard standing and cannot secure them into the ground.

    Hi,
I have considered this long and hard and after using the unit considerably this summer in france, i have discounted fitting them.

    My reasons

The pressure on the legs during windy times would be quite high and not sure if the substrate would take it.

The cargo doors on my van would foul the area of the fittings and the legs when fastened would be in the way of the doors opening or being held open.

Find it easy to wind out and secure if required to the ground, and itfeels safer.

Everones personal choice but not for us!

    Take Care

It is also rumoured that putting legs down on the ground in French Aires is a No No, its considered camping and camping is not permitted fixed to the van overcomes this problem
Anyone know if thats fact or fiction

They need to be professionally fitted to avoid straining the vans walls,

Easier to buy some Fiamma awning leg plates and use granite pegs to hold them down on a hard standing
