Ferry with DFDS to Holland booked late March, intending to travel Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia. Have a ten week period. Really a first for us as we have concentrated on France, Italy, Spain and Portugal in the past. Time to spread our wings that bit further.

Any advice on routes, things to do and see as well as campsites or stop overs along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Travelling home via Lake Anneny in France.

I hope that you have a great trip. The only info that I can add quickly is that many of the campsites are likely to be closed during this time and you may find that Croatia is cool / cold, particularly inland. I would be tempted to do most of the touristy things on the route down there, enjoy the warmth of Croatia in the Spring and make a faster return trip rather than leaving Croatia as it starts to warm up to see lot of things on the way home.

Here is a link to the meteorological service in Croatia with temperatures for May: http://klima.hr/klima_e.php?id=mjes&param=05

We've spent May in Croatia for the last three years...generally good weather with odd days when the "Bura" wind kicks in.

Our favourite area is the Peljesac peninsula...the island Korcula is opposite and it is an easy drive South to have a look at Dubrovnik.

In May it is uncrowded ...the sea is warm enough for a quick swim by the end of May usually...several campsites in the Orebic / Viganj area...Camping Palme is nicely situated and set out.

Great tips keep them coming. Would be grateful on any roads or passes with spectacular views especially Austria.
