Feedback on these Northern France aires? (1 Viewer)

Hi
Have you been to any of the following aires and if so, what's your verdict?
Planning a week in late September and glancing through the All the Aires book, these caught our eye.
(Looking for shops/sights/something to do when there)

St Valery Sur Somme
Le Crotoy
Fort Mahon Plage
Montreuil Sur Mer
Bologne Sur Mer

We're planning to return to Le Touquet - wife's seen a plant pot she wanted but didn't buy last month!

If shops is the goal then Boulogne is the best option. A downhill walk to town or get the bus. Quite a big place.

Le Crotoy - large busy aire, not the prettiest but really convenient position for the town.

Fort Mahon Plage was a bit of a dump when we went, "homemade" service point that was not clean and taps not defined well enough so we were reluctant to use it.......... but is it right in the middle of the town with a short walk to a nice beach.

Montreuil sur Mer lovely aire recently been upgraded to provide 8 marked bays, short walk to town.

Boulogne - nice aire overlooking the harbour, not level. Bit of a walk down hill (then uphill back!) to Nausicca and the harbour area.

Not used St Valery Sur Somme

Agree with the comments about Boulogne.
Le Crotoy you don't say which one, the one to the north of the town by the sand dunes is nice and quiet but a good 20 min walk to town, the one by the harbor is close to the town but often very over crowded.

Le Crotoy by the harbour as has been said can get busy particularly weekends and French National Holidays. It can be fun when its wet as well as puddles form in the sand. That said we have stayed there a few times when we pop over for the weekend - we have had some great meals in the Restaurants there. 5 euros to park. It is a big Aire though so we have always managed to park.

Another one we will be going back to is Quend les Pins - 7 euros to park but machine not working when we stayed there this year. Short walk into the seaside town with Bars/Restaurants.

We prefer the second aire just to the north of Le Crotoy in the dunes, walk over the dunes and if you like seafood there is cockling out on the mud banks there but careful with the tides.

Another option might be over the bay at Le Hourdel near the lighthouse, there is motorhome parking (no facs) there and some great cockling (careful with the tide again) and just a short walk into the village where there is a restaurant and a few shops.
