New measures to monitor people leaving the UK come into force today, although only 25% of passports will be fully verified during the first month of the new system.

As a precaution it might be worth arriving at channel ports and the tunnel terminal a bit earlier than usual.

We came out the UK last Thursday via tunnel and it was a lot more relaxed than usual! No physical gas check and no passport checks either:coffee:

We came home through Hull after 8 weeks away,

Pull into this shed please NO the doors not high enough OK through where the coaches go.

Questions,
where have you been,
have you any cash in the van,
yes €1500,
why,
because we didn't spend it all,
can we look in all the outside spaces while the sniffer dog goes through the van,
OK you can go thank you except that the door athe other end won't open so you will have to reverse out.

If it happens to you ask them to while there feet first, including the dogs, they did put covers on the furniture.

Anyway the roads were clear by the time we got out.

Went out of Hull on Sunday. Never been through so quick. No gas check and we were on the ferry before we had time for a cuppa.

What makes me laugh is the first 2 FAQ's

"Do I have to give you Advance Passenger Information (API)?"

As part of the British Government's Exit Check programme they require us to collect a few pieces of information for every passenger travelling to the Continent in a vehicle. Providing this information in advance of your travel will speed up your journey through our Folkestone terminal.

"What if I do not give you Advance Passenger Information (API)?"

Providing this information in advance of your travel will speed up your journey through our Folkestone terminal.

Neither of the questions have actually been answered!!
The first has an answer ,Yes or No , nothing else & the 2nd doesn't tell you anything either.

They must be employing politicians !

In car 2012 @Dover;
" where have you been ?"
" Nowhere"
"Sorry , didn't you understand the question ?" (sarcastically)
"Yes I did , thank you. Didn't you see the number plates"
" Do you live here ?"
"No "
" Have a safe journey"

:)
Or a question from 2013
" Do you intend to return without the vehicle?"

 I'm sure there is a reason for asking but it escapes me.
2014 wasn't a lot better.

Surly this is the same as the info that has been required for some time from the airlines (prior to departures). If it saves process/departure time we should all heave a sigh of relief :whistle::whistle::confused::confused:

We sent our advanced information in when we booked. 3 days ago, got a phone call from Eurotummel asking for the information, again. Got to the tunnel this afternoon, showed French border control our passports he gave them straight back after a cursory glance, and that was it!
We exited pretty easily

Funny enough when we got off the ferry in Dublin on Thursday all vehicles were being stopped for ID - usually just drive straight off and away. I was asked for my passport or ID (I was driving my car) while Howie who was driving the mh was just asked his nationality! He said GB and that he was following me so got waved on!
