Exhaust help (1 Viewer)

Had an advisory on my recent MOT to replace the exhaust front pipe due to corrosion.
Ringing around for prices today a lot of garages told me it needed a cat (according to their computer).
Well it`s not got one now so I`m not paying for one.
Some said they wouldn`t fit a non cat front pipe as it should have one and it may come back on them and would be an MOT fail anyway ! even though it just passed without one.
Whats going on here, is it likely someone has done a de-cat at some time in the past ?
Eventually found a garage to do it at a good price

We've a 2004. No cat fitted.

It is indeed an MoT failure Not to have a Cat if one was fitted as original equipment.
No one has told us yet how to identify the earlier models where some did some didn't, that is the problem until they do
you get the benefit of any uncertainty as has always been the case,
A statement like "It never had one" would be good enough for me, and a note to that effect would be made on my paperwork

Mmm mines a 2002 Ducato 2.8JTD and I found a pipe easily enough and fitted it myself, pretty sure our Hymers have never had a cat Figaro mind you mine is R/h drive so the pipe is probably easier to find

Mines right hand drive but just don't much fancy crawling underneath !

I would go and get a stainless one made, just as cheep but much better..
