We are presently staying on Los Madriles camp site in Isla Plana just the other side of Cartagena. What a wonderful site:thumb:
We found it by accident as couldn't find anywhere to wild camp last night so pulled in here 16E ACSI incl electric.
Just been talking to an English couple who are off to book a pitch for the winter. It's 13E (I think)incl electric, wifi is free, decent sized pitches each seperated by trees and the swimming pools are thermal pools that are bath temperature, one of them is covered so can still be used in the cold weather if it ever comes here. Apparently it is full every winter with long stayers so they were having to book their pitch now. Only vans up to 8mtr and no dogs.

If you had carried on along the same road for a couple of miles there is free camping behind the Leon Restaurant and further along in the village by the church.
The village is called La Azhoia and the port was built to transport the big guns up the mountain to protect Cartegena, a truly beautifull place.
Its a nice walk along the seafront from the campsite past the big greenhouses and there is a few nice bars/restaurants for refreshments.

If you walk to the end of the village the local council have built a foot path to some gun emplacements and this is the view looking over Azhoia La Plana And Mazzarron

Jaygee was that you today on the bike when we were asked to move off the football pitch? ended up in the rambla next door stopped for a picnic by the sea. Car park was full of MH's
Can vouch for Los Madrilles lived there for 6 weeks 4 years ago before settling at Alhama
The whole area has so much to offer and explore even after 4 years still have lots to see.
Isla Plana is in a micro climate and you can swim in the sea for 10 months of the year, according to World Health Organisation its the best climate in Europe average 21 degs, do try the NoNo Restaurant best in area also Antipodies at end of bay, and La Chara in Isla Plana.

Yes that was me! Just comedown from the mountain, been up near the big pylons - didn't realise you was a funster.
We are cycling there tomorrow from the campsite, were you staying overnight or was you only visiting for the day?

Tony it was just a picnic visit with my Mum, we live in Alhama de Murcia about 19k away, quite often wildcamp around Aquilas area but not Isla Plana. But do go down that way quite often for day visits

Have you been up the rambla adjacent Los Madriles, left out of the site and first left after the house taking you between the greenhouses. It's a brilliant walk/ride and a quieter spot than La Azohia for a bit of wild camping.

Be careful what you say at LM, the management don't like being told how their site should be run. On our first visit we were told of campers being evicted because they complained of noise from their neighbours.
