We are really pleased with the difference it has made, when we drove it back from the garage we were very impressed. We can't wait to take it out, trouble is we emptied the van we've goto fill it again now, It will make a big differnce with the daughters mobility scooter in the garage and we dont have to worry about the wieght.

    Hi Kate
Thanks for that, we are glad to have helped, if you can give me a ring in the morning as we have received the paper work and new plate for your van from SV Tech.

    Cheers
    J.

Nice to hear about good service. Very refreshing.
Out of interest - how did you find out you were overweight / illegal?
I understand air suspension and intend to fit it, but how does a weight upgrade work?

It was highlighted to us that we may be overweight, After reading the threads regarding overloading garages on motorhomes we had ours checked at our local public wieght bridge. We found it to be 5.42% over on the back axle, but still within the 3850kg, with only 4 people and minimal contents, We have to carry a disability scooter in the garage so we contacted svtec who told us we could upgrade to 4100kg, from 3850kg providing we had fitted airsuspension. It has not changed our insurance costs.

So, by fitting air suspension and filling in a form (or 12, no doubt) I could gain an additional 250kg of payload?
I like the sound of that. Is there a downside?

The downside is that you might not be able to put the whole 250kgs on the rear axle:Sad: My upgrade will give me an extra 200kgs overall but will only give me an extra 100 kgs on the rear axle of which 20kgs is taken up straight away by the airride itself.... So it's always worth doing the maths before you start:Smile:

    Hope this helps
back axle was origionaly 2120kg now increased to 2300kg,
front axle origionaly was 1850kg and remains the same.
the train weight remains the same at 5500kg.
Svtec sent us a updated plate.

180kgs on the back axle is well worthwhile

    But !
Did you have the vehicle MOT'd or did you return the tax disk and renew ?

Because the mh was 3850kg it was already registered as a phg. So all that was required was to change the weight to 4100kg on the log book
