Just a record of what happened at the Folkestone Eurostar Book in this July.
Our Sprinter Van is on the Log Book as a White Panel Van with Windows even with a full conversion interior inc. Fixed bed, toilet/shower/cooker/fridge/tv/cupboards/ etc. etc..
Contacted DVLA for change of V5 form after conversion (2011) informed 'Not necessary, just let your Insurance company know its a conversion, you stay as a Panel Van with windows as far as we are concerned at the DVLA'
Booked on-line a return crossing to Calais from Folkestone (our first experience with Eurostar, have always used the Ferry) for our annual 6 week tour of France, cost? £140 return, very pleased. Arrived Eurostar Booking in Folkestone, stopped by security for identity papers etc. plus interior inspection of the van, then informed that we were NOT a panel van as described on the V5 form (log book) We were a Campervan! Related the tale from the DVLA only to be informed that as we had a GAS COOKER on board then we were a Campervan and had to stump up another £40 and warned that if we make the trip again via Eurostar then we MUST declare our vehicle as a Campervan on the on-line booking form and NOT a Panel Van as described on the log book.
Apart from that little incident we have to admit that going via Eurostar is an absolute treat and would recommend to everyone (35 mins. from Folkestone to Calais and arrived South of Calais near to the main A16 heading South to Neufchatel en Bray)
