been told maybe even before April this year all the motorhomes will be away, the king is coming to open the new golf club which is the focal point of the new development Taghazout Bay. Been told more works been done in the last couple of months than the last couple of years, big investment 8 hotels a village and surf area. Between 8000-12000 beds.
Progress eh :-(

sadly , yes.. Morocco will soon be just another 'costa' :( ...

but perhaps that is selfish.. the new hotels etc will generate a lot of work and wealth for the local economy ..

glad I've seen it before that happens..

been on the cards for years . we went to a meeting on the site in 97 with the old king . the plans have been in agadir planning office for anyone to see.
was a good site meeting they came round and invited the motorhomers to food and drinks. mind there was only about 90 campers at that time.
in 76 you could almost count the campers on your fingers. some still make it most years .
you could just roll up and sleep in a sleeping bag then . 5 of us went there in an old ford thames van , slept outside most nights .

As Al says that job has been going on for years. They have a big push and move all the campers, then whoever is backing it pulls out and its back to normal for a couple of years. The last I heard was it was an American outfit who were paying the bills, then the recession came and they pulled out. Wonder who the next bankroll will be.

i hear it might be that english man thats selling campers and fivers on the costas in spain .
but dont tell anyone it might be a secret.

most of where folk camp now was fields for years . the local farmers weren't asked to renew their leases . thats how it got sold to the hotel construction folk in the beginning.
as far as i remember when Elizabeth a uk lady that ran the camping international site at tagga packed in it just got temporary use by the locals for camping . mind that was over 10 yrs ago.
it may happen . who knows .
mind spain was like it in the 60,s who thought benidorm would end up like it is ?
long way from what it used to be.

Well that's it. We left about 8.30 on Tuesday after packing up Monday night - the word came round that the deadline was 9.00am Tuesday. Still quite a few on site but all packed up and ready to go. We learned 24hrs later that there wasn't a single van parked anywhere along that stretch of coast. Marjane in Agadir, though, was heaving!

Although sorry to see it go we can say we were there at the end, flying the (Funster) flag.
