Hi We are on EHU and have overloaded the system on our Hymer B524 and all the electric has gone off even the leisure battery isn't working. The system didn't trip in the van. Glenn has checked all the fuses and can't find anything. It will be dark soon so would appreciate any help asap. Thanks

Separate from the electroblock I assume you have there will be a battery fuse, probably rated at 50 amps. This will be fitted in supply cable to leisure battery, on ours adjacent to the battery. Have you checked this fuse? Do you have voltmeter to check actual battery voltage as electroblock will disconnect power if below a certain voltage, perhaps 10.5 volts but cannot remember. Which electroblock do you have? What year is the van?

Hi Thanks all. The van is a 2008 Hymer B524. We have tried another EHU and it still doesn't work. The 50 amp fuse to the leisure battery looks ok. Unfortunately we haven't got an volt meter with us.

If the battery has past it's sell by date it can blow the Elektroblok, commonest problems with faulty Elektroblocks is caused by trying to charge a faulty battery. As Sandral says check the battery voltage if you don't have a meter someone on the site will have one, just need to knock on a few doors.

Its a fairly new battery. It all went off because we had too many things on. It would normally trip out but everything just went off.

Can you borrow a lead from a neighbour's to try...yours maybe faulty......or, do any 230v appliances work when plugged in.
That should confirm or eliminate a faulty hook up lead.
If the main and supplemental 12v fuses are ok it sounds like your battery is discharged/knackered and the charger usually takes the job of powering things 12v which of course isn't working as you have no 230v.

With the mains disconnected try turning the Electroblock off and then back on (small slide switch on front panel of Elektroblock)
Also not uncommon for new batteries to fail, you really need to check the voltage.

We have two leads and have tried them both.
Absolutely nothing works not even the electric spark to light the gas. The fridge is not working on gas either. I can't believe the battery is flat as we have two and have been on hook up for the last week.

All our neighbours have electric. We have tried turning the electroblock off and on. No success so far. Thanks everyone for taking the time.

Sorry I lost my Internet. . Was about to say ignore that silly suggestion.. as you've lost your 12v system also..
It does sound like you have lost a relay or main fuse somewhere..
Hope you get sorted..
Andy.

Have you tried plugging your hook up cable into a post that you know is working?

If you have used too much 230v through the ehu either you have tripped at the post or tripped in the van.

Double check both trip switches and try a different ehu post.

On our 2014 B544 there is a trip switch, just like a house one. It's at the back of a cupboard to the right of the entrance door, no where near the electrics or the leisure battery. I've tripped this a couple of times and had complete black out.

Thanks again we now have 12v supply. Not sure why or how that happened but it does mean we can at least run the fridge and freezer on gas. So that is something. Oooooh Glenn has just told me we're back on. Something you guys have suggested must have worked but we have been trying so many things I can't say what it was. Just very relieved and it isn't dark yet. Raising a glass to the funsters. Very happy! Thanks guys.

we had something similar happen to us a few years back and eventually traced it to a blown fuse.

I didn't post as I had no ideas - it is 5 years since we sold our Hymer. Glad you got it sorted - £10 very well spent for the depth of knowledge on here.

Absolutely agree. As we are fairly new to MHing everything that goes wrong is a big crisis as we don't really have a clue what we're doing. The funsters have come to our aid so many times. Sadly still haven't met any of them in the flesh.

Hi Peeps. It seems we blew the EHU but re setting the Electroblock as suggested by Lenny HB and plugging into another EHU I think did the trick. Been busy all day and not able to get on line to let you know. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
