Anyone suggest a simple free version?

DVDshrink and RipIt4me will make backup copies of 99% of your previously bought DVDs.

Both are freeware.
If one doesn't work, try the other.
If copying just the main movie doesn't work, try copying the entire disk.

I did, and it is. I use it a lot.

I use Handbrake. http://handbrake.fr but this only does non protected DVD's.
I then use Slysoft.com for the protection removal. This allows me to backup my DVD's for use in the van.

Slysoft AnyDVD, have this running to deal with any protection - Then use Clone DVD from the same people:thumb: I use this to make backups of all my DVDs
