Getting more experienced each trip
Hi
I believe there are a few whisky drinkers in the forum. Do any of you know of a distillery in this area with a visitor centre

There's the Bladnoch distillery at Bladnoch, which is just outside Wigtown.

Did the tour a couple of years ago, but as a non drinker it was of limited interest!

Nice area though, campsites just down the road at Garleston, or people also wild camp by the harbour on The Isle of Whithorn (see my avatar for the view :D)

There may be more but this is the only one I've been to

Pretty sure the Bladnoch distillery may be closed at the moment. Think it ceased trading a couple of years ago but may have been sold recently as there were workmen repairing the roof last month when we drove past.

It is under new management but I am unsure of it's status at the moment, as stated above there are workmen on site from time to time. Our neck of the woods is worth a visit at any time though, you don't need to visit a distillery.

There is a new one in Annan which has a visitor centre and offers tours, I think I heard the Bladnoch one being advertised on local radio.

They have a website:-

http://bladnoch.com/

Under the previous owners camping was permitted on the riverbank at the distillery, handy for the festivals and concerts they held, don't know if this is still the case. There are loads of CL's CS's and campsites nearby and wild camping shouldn't be a problem.
