I think the title says it all, my 3 L X 250 is a bit lazy turning over but does so beautifully if I put a jump lead between battery neutral and engine block.

I have everything to hand to replace this cable, if only I could find the blooming thing:)

I have looked at all the photos on past threads but there is not one of them that actually tells me where it is. I can see what it looks like, just not where to find it.

Thanks all,

David.

Hi David, on ours its directly below the air filter, its normally a braided strap not insulated but I replaced mine with an insulated one.

Since 2007. But no more.
If it's the same as the earlier x250 it is between gearbox and chassis and quite short, seen down behind the air filter .

Thanks a million! Found it!

My plan is to make up the cable using insulated welding cable, then remove the insulation and replace it with spiral wrap thereby allowing the whole length of the cable to flex.

Thanks again,

David.

Pic 1 shows the old cable and the new before stripping. You can see how several of the conductors in the old cable have broken.

I'm glad I fixed this before I got a new battery, which I was about to do. Spins over much better now, so I can spend the battery money on Tyrepal now since I have no spare.

Thanks again,

David.

Hi Andy,

I had already looked at your threads on this, and the photos. I Couldn't work out where to find the strap. I have just twigged that yours is a left-hand drive and so has a slightly different layout. Is your air filter elsewhere? And my hydraulic master cylinder is the other side:sneaky:
