Hi all, I have just purchased a 94 Ducato Riviera which looks a bit tired and dated inside.I intend to do a refurb but as this is my 1st van I have no idea where to start.

I would like to change the wallpaper because the previous owners were smokers and the walls look a bit grubby. Do I just use standard wallpaper and wallpaper paste or do MHs have a special type of covering.

Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

I'm an oldbie MH number 10
hI Haamester.
Firstly may I recomend Motorhome Self Build, Camper Van Parts, Spares and Accessories for a wide range of internal and external equipment, from sinks to toilets they have the lot.

Motorhomes dont tend to have wallpaper its a wallboard with coverings already embossed or stuck to the actual wood. However having said that Im not aware why you cant paste your own paper on but I wouldn't try taking the old covering off.

I was looking on abay yesterday and came accross a nice wallnut dash kit for your motorhome.

Never wallpapered a motorhome but did it once in an old caravan, used a vinyl wallpaper the caravan lasted to my knowledge another six years and was sold on after that.

Wallpapering a motorhome is certainly possible with the right materials and some good decorating skills, you should be hard pushed to tell that its been done
In my opinion
Tile effect wallpaper is a no no:Eeek:
select a quality vynal paper, even going to the trouble of going to a decorators trade center to get specialist vynal wider than a standard roll 21" some vynals are available in 30" and 36" widths and do away with joints on wide panels, pattern selelction is important, try and find somthing that looks original and most important use a vynal UPVA adhesive, the decorator centre will advise on that.
The rest is just nuts and bolts, have fun:thumb:

What a helpful site this is, I asked the same question on another site and got 1 answer and that was only blowing raspberries at me.

Vinyl sounds a great idea as it will be wipe clean.
Not used the van yet but i'm itching to go on alittle run so that will be this weekend.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions folks it's really good of you all.

Thumbs up for everyone. :thumb:

Thanks Alan, all this brilliant information has got my imagination running wild now haha
Can't believe how helpful everone is on this site, joined a few sites and it doesn't appear to be the same on all of them. Seems to be a lot of bickering about the law of the road on most.
Once again thanks all.

Scratch that itch, it'll soon be snow chain time.

Then worry about the inside when you can't enjoy it.
