£69 at £1.10 per litre is approx 14 gallons (62 ltr)
14 gallons per 315 miles = 22.5mpg

I would say you have a 70litre tank and the gauge is inaccurate.
22mpg is about right.
Standard ducato tank used to be 70liters
I paid £1.20 a litre @ Thurrock services Saturday morning, it's either a 13 or a14 gallon, agree with your maths, but still too small for long distances, means I have to keep an eye on the gauge at 250 miles that's when to start sweating, can't chance reaching services when 300 miles are on the trip accurate or not, thanks for the info, will keep you informed

That's not what I said. How can you tell if the tank is empty if the gauge is reading wrong? I'm not having a go, just a thought. Have a look under another MH and compare physical sizes.
I'm sorry was not meant to be picky steel way, I have no reason to suspect gauge , but the amount of fuel and cost adds up to a small capacity. Will definitely sort when I get home cheers

How are you calculating that ? Trip computer or brim to brim ?
Brim to brim , zeroing the trip on two motor homes so mil ages are quite accurate. One tiny thing though. We were travelling at a steady 56mph! Not something I can do all the time when traveling long distances

Our 2015 Ducato 2.3 130 has a 60litre tank. The standard van with this same engine has a 90litre tank. For some reason they put the smaller tank on the motorhome base vehicle, however illogical it may seem (I'm guessing it is to do with payload). We're happy with a 360 mile range anyway.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to fill up more often if distance is a problem.
Why wait until it's low to top up.
'Cheaper' being cheaper than fitting a long distance tank and associated plumbing.
It's suggested that driving at 70mph is using 30% more fuel than at 50mph.....especially in an un-aerodynamic brick.

Who said I was filling up from 1/4 of a tank? I said the warning light had been on for over 20 miles the gauge on the floor, I was not going to travel any further to check accuracy of the gauge

Mine being older has the 70L tank .Very rarely do I ever let it go below half way but I did recently & then the light came on:eek: I was panicking a bit as it was 40kms home & to where I fill up & half of that was uphill. When I did get there it took 54 litres brimmed.? Which means light came on at 18-20l left. Now even at my worst I get 10kms per litre & best 14 so if the light comes on again I know I have between 180-200kms & 252-280kms .
Even looked in the book to see at what capacity left the light is supposed to appear but couldn't find anything.

I was just on the Fiat forum & there was an optional 60l tank & they obviously fitted this to make payload appear better.Standard is 90l & long range 125l.

Thanks for the info, Its really a choice of more fuel less mpg but longer travel between fills or small tank more mpg and short distance between fills (also having to check gauge and trip constantly and planning service stops in time)

many many years! since I was a kid
if it was me, I would ring round the commercial vehicle breakers and buy a 125ltr tank and brackets from an ex delivery van. couriers and royal mail etc all use the biggest yanks available. as they are plastic, they tend to clean up good as new

My tank does not reach that far towards the exhaust ?
That tank in question is from a normal box van which "have" a bigger tank as standard

Hi Lo:LOL:
Sorry had to be done

I only comment as you seem to be handling them quite well.
Have you consulted Mclaren F1 guys on fuel stop strategy yet;)
time saved along with brake pad and tyre savings (reduced turning in for fuel) should more than cover any upgrade
Your trips sound more like endurance trials or a race to me :)
If you run out completely call the RAC put kettle on and TV then chill(y)
But above all enjoy

Wow, you must be in a hurry to get somewhere!
You have to have your Race Awning, Hospitality, Garage set up on Thursday, Practice & qualifying Friday, Race 1 Saturday, Race 2 Sunday. Plus traveling both sides of that x 10 meetings a season, too long away from work & I have no funds to race (y)
