I've had the front coil springs on my 3.0litre Laika Rexosline uprated to get the front axle up from 1875kg to 2000kg, The old springs are Goldschmidt M11's. They seem in good nick.
Anybody interested?

once stressed by being used on a heavy motorhome, suspension springs are not worth fitting to another van. mind you, it may be economical for somebody to put them on a beat up builders van to get it through an mot

i personally wouldnt fit second hand suspension, steering or brakes.... too dangerous

The firm that fitted the new ones for me seemed to think the old ones would 'do a turn'.
Laika sales material from when the van was new in 2009 stated the coil springs were 'uprated' but typically could not quantify that when I enquired prior to having an SVTech weight upgrade. It was important for me to take the front axle from 1850kg to 2000kg but the existing springs were still ok. The replacements, being a known quantity, allowed SVTech to issue the new 'plate'.:Smile::Smile:

Hi Peter... I have pm'd you but should add that the Goldschmidts could well have been the original Fiat fitted ones. I couldn't get any confirmation or otherwise from Laika.

Hi Guys, just joined the forum & finding alot of interesting info. Anyone got first hand experiance of the Gold Schmitt 4" lift front coil springs. My 08 Bessacar E789 sits very low in the front. Is there any alternative manufacturers that make an uprated spring?
Thanks,

CJ.

i am certain that strut spacers used in lifting 4x4s could be used to raise the front suspension if it sits too low even with decent springs fitted. uprated springs often give a harsher ride so are not always appropriate

My Hymer was very nose down so last year I had Goldschmitt springs fitted by Essanjay. It made a world of difference. The vehicle is now 'level' and whilst the new springs are strongervthan the originals the suspension is much more pliable and comfort improved. I suspect thatbthe originals were bottoming and causing the uncomfortable ride.

I believe that either you can now specify Goldscmitts on a new Hymer, or that possibly they even fit them as standard.

If you contact them in Germany you will need to tell them the axle rates at which you run when laden and they will supply the correct spring, don't just tell them the plated weights.

It's not likely that springs will LEVEL my van as I am hugely in the air at the back on my 4250 heavy chassis but any improvement would be welcome.
my front is 2100kg and we run at 1920 full

Hi Mike,

This is exactly the info I was after. I emailed Gold Schmitt in Germany yesterday so just waiting on an answer back. Will let you know how it goes.
Thanks all,
CJ.

Ok, Been away for a week, came back & there is a box awaiting me with 2 coil springs inside.
Workshops fitted them today........OMG:Eeek:...... the difference is like night & day. They quoted a 60mm lift & they have lifted it exactly 60mm. The ride quality is incredible with much more compliance. I am a very hard person to please but I can honestly say these are BRILLIANT, exactly what I was after. The roofline now looks correct instead of that nose down dragster look, even the sitting position in the drivers seat now feels so much better.
I unfortunately was too busy to photograph before the springs were fitted but compare these to your own. I will check tomorrow how much I can supply & fit these for if anyone is interested, but if you have been thinking about it, GET IT DONE.

Hi Guys, for anyone interested heres some photos of a 2.8jtd Ducato with the uprated front coil springs fitted. You can clearly see the difference in looks but the driving is again transformed. Much more compliance & far less body roll. This is a no brainer.

Anyone want more info just let me know,

CJ.

How much lead time is there on the springs and what deposit do you require to order them in ?

front springs

Hello, I see that the both of us live in Fife and I also see that you have had uprated front springs fitted to your motorhome. Can I ask where you had this done. I have addresses in Lancaster and Poole Dorset. I am prepared to travel but if yours were fitted closer I would be interested. Many thanks. F.

And here is a photo of an A Class Hymer, before, and after, uprated Goldschmitt coil springs were fitted.

Because they are not close up images, it is hard to tell the difference, but it's definitely there in height, ride, and comfort. :thumb:

Cheers,

Jock.
