I want to have my cam belt changed and was informed that on this engine the water pump is not driven by the cam belt hence no need to change the water pump.
Can anyone confirm this please?

The water pump isn't driven by the cambelt BUT - depending on mileage it's a good opportunity to change it anyway whilst access to it is easy.

The water pump is definitely not driven by the cambelt so IMHO does not need replacing unless there is a problem with it. There is an argument for changing it at the same time due to access but I don't personally bother on 2.8 engines unless the pump is leaking or noisy.

Thank you for positive replies, I have now ordered the cambelt kit to take back to Spain with me.

I bought a Pilote with the same engine, cambelt was done before I picked it up.
Three days later on its first proper trip out the water pump siezed and the motorhome had to be returned back to the dealers for repair.
Coincidence?
It was repaired quickly and no problems since, dealer said they should have done it at the same time while it was in for cambelt change to be sure it was ok.
