I removed the little plastic panel from the drivers door and found this, is it intended for a Hymer lock or can I fit one of the Heo locks I have seen

I fitted my own deadlocks to mine used double locking dead bolts keyed both sides but the plate on mine was only an alloy one yours looks like a good solid steel back plate.

Thats exactly what i need, did allthe holes in the backplate line up with the pre drilled ones?
Any ideas where I might find one?

I have an LHD Hymer and I bought a lock for the driver's door from http://www.harrisonlocks.co.uk/motorhome-locks/. You have to bear in mind that the removable plastic panel covers the inside face of the lock so I rigged up a tube which goes through a hole in the panel so that I can operate the lock internally when I want to. If you would like photos of the set up let me know.

I have a 2009 B504CL and have had the Heosafe locks supplied by Harrison Locks since new. The lock on the cab door is totally enclosed by the door panel, the lock on the habitation door sits in the formed recess. Never had any troubles with them and feel a lot safer with them. As far as I remember they bolted straight on.

No central locking on the Hymer doors. What concerns me is if you look at the picture the big hole for the lock barrell is offset to the upper left of the four M5 mounting holes. Is this normal/universal and will the backplate line up?
I prefer the 40 euros or so price to Harrisons locks £145:eek::eek:

Mine only had the hole for the cylinder but being involved in household security in a former life it was easy enough to use the back plate supplied with the lock. Worked out a lot cheaper than using a certain company known to fit them.
When the plastic cover is refitted with appropriate holes cut for bolt shoot and key looks ok I just fitted key in lock internally and made a special forked key turner so that it can be locked inside then turner removed so that it cannot be unlocked unless you have the turner so when leaving van empty you can lock up knowing no one can open door unless they have the key turner (eg a thief Breaks a window he ain't getting out easily)

The lock is usually linked to the key barrel by a lever or rod. Removal of same should be easy. You need to leave one point of access that's key operated otherwise if the central locking or the remote fails you'll be unable to lock or unlock your van.

I found out that it is indeed made to fit the Abus locks (4010 is the single keyed and 4025 is the keyed bothsides) but I cannot find these any where apart from the previously mentioned at £95 and 3145 respectively.:eek::eek:
