HI

Our fridge won't light on gas.

Works fine on mains.

Does any one know if the piezo lighter button has a replaceable battery?

I'm thinking I'll try and eliminate the cheapest options first.

I plan on pulling it out and trying to clean and blow out the burner to see if that helps.

Any advice?

P.S. The youtube service video should be a great help to me

Hi, can you hear a "clicking" sound when you turn it onto gas? if so the igniter is trying to spark, if not then igniter obviously not working. I think they are usually powered by 12v but not certain.
Someone will be along soon to give you a more definitive answer.
Hope this helps (a bit!)
Cheers, Dave(y)

Cheers Dave.

It has a push button ignition. Turn to gas setting, push and hold temp dial in, press ignition button (which then clicks).

I've had a similar problem where the selector dial doesn't seem to register correctly in the GAS position and doesn't ignite. Moving it back to 240v and then back to GAS seems to cure the problem. Don't know if this is your problem but worth a try.

Hi, I can see the gas jet viewed through the circular window inside the fridge but as reported the ignition spark is very occasional sometimes if I leave it for a while then I get a spark and it lights. so not a problem with the gas reaching the fridge.

7 years campers before that
poor spark is usually a sign that the burner needs cleaning especially the earth terminals

Its a common problem with gas fridges. The gas jet is very small and easily blocked. The sparker electrode could need cleaning and adjusting. You need to get to it, it all need a service.

Ok many thanks, it’s got the piezo button so not the continuous spark until it lights it depends on one button press one spark so everything has to work around the ignition/gas jet for it to work pre 2005!

You can buy an electric replacement for the push button. It is easy to change the push for the battery powered device from the front of the fridge. Remove the two knobs and two screws and the plastic surround can be removed.

This is the replacement part. I changed mine and this worked well. The battery is in the silver cap. As suggested the selector switch can also be a problem.
