in simple terms No :thumb:

as they are sealed there is no where for the gas to get out of them

Agree with above, but personally would still prefer to vent, belt and braces.

Sealed batteries still have the ability to vent if they become pressurised due to gassing or high temperatures. Gel batteries would not normally gas unless they are being charged by a charger unsuitable to gel batteries. Ventilating the compartment is a good idea anyway.
