Everyone is different in tipping -

I don`t , they already charge enough ,if fact i always bargin everywhere.

Missis would tip everyone--she won £300 on bingo this weekend at a Dawlish camp site--she tipped the staff £40 :Angry:

I always tip 10% everywhere, unless crap meal/service.

Always causes a problem when we go out for a family meal, and one brother in law refuses to tip anybody.

I pointedly pay his tip aswell !

I always tip 10% or enough to get a decent drink.
For example a taxi driver charges me £5 I will give him £8. If the charge is £50 I will give a fiver. Unless the taxi driver is a mardy twat or behaves inconsiderately he get nothing.

In restaurants I do the same. I am more aware of tipping in restaurants as they tend to rely on tips to make their wages liveable.

If the service is substandard they get the tip but no repeat business.

Never could get my head around why do people tip Cab drivers, they are all self employed with a take home far higher than most and they take you from point A to point B. What is the tip about.
Unlike waiters etc who are on low wage and rely on giving good service to enable them to pay their bills.
I think that a service charge is generally in favour of the restaurant rather than the worker who will only get a percentage of the tip whichever country you are in.
The US is a bit of an eye opener as far as tipping goes.

We frequently tip but heaven knows why ! My hubby served in the RAF for 37 years. Did he get a tip. No. I was a nurse and spent much of my days cleaning peoples parts where nobody really wants to go. I served meals and earned less than a taxi driver or a London bus driver. Did I get tipped. Yes over the edge at times. oh:

If the bill includes a service charge, I refuse to pay it!

If the "service is exceptional" I tip the waitress/waiter personally.

If the service is crap! then sweet F/A

I don't tip anyone, unless they provide service over and above that which one would normally expect, no matter what country I am in.
