Our motorhome is sold and is being picked up today by a dealer. Would you normally leave the hook up cable in the van for the next people or not? Our next one (s/h) isn't being picked up until early July so don't know whether it will come with one or not.
What's your thoughts? Don't want to be mean but don't want to shell out on another one unnecessarily.

But I don't know if they have one cos it's going to a dealer. Just wondered what the 'norm' is. I'm happy to put it in but not if the dealer will bin it.

If you bought it, keep it. If it came with the van, consider leaving it. You could also ask the dealer if your new van comes with a cable. (y)

Keep it, the dealer will bin it ..they will generally supply a new cable as they won't risk leaving a potentially faulty second-hand cable in a van.

When we bought our first van we had to buy a brand new cable. As that van was written off we still have the cable. Our current (no pun intended :D) van (which the dealer was selling on behalf of a customer) came with a cable which had been tested.

Keep it - as others have said dealer likely to bin it.

What are you getting as must have missed the post!

Mags take your hook up, your tv and your gas bottle. He told us to take them when we sold ours.

Going to a dealer then I would keep it, I thought it was a private sale. The dealer should throw in a new one for you.

Keep all you want, the dealer won't care about the bits and the Elec lead will be binned!

Technically, if everything was in the van when the dealer agreed a trade in and nothing was specified about what was included or not (tv gas bottle etc) then all the contents are part of the trade.

It wasn't in when he saw the van so it isn't part of the sale. I didn't want to be mean but at the same time don't want to waste it. Thanks all. Kath the "new" one is an Autotrail Miami. Really like it. Will PM you.

We bought ours from a dealer, and we had to purchase the gas bottles, levelling ramps and hookup lead separately. So I would say, take out all of your stuff.

Isn't it nice to have people like @Mags52. She is a considerate person. Rare these days. The sort that would leave the light bulbs if she moved :)

Mag's, keep the lead and treat yourself to a waterproof connection cover. One day, you will find that you are too far from the hook-up post - but not if you keep that spare length of cable!

Thanks wingman - we try to be fair which is more than can be said for our local dealer but that's another story. The one that's buying is really decent though so we mustn't tar them all with the same brush.
Looking forward to getting our next one now. We're like kids at Christmas! ;)

Our dealer told us that what is left in the motorhome will be thrown out as they wont give a 2nd hand EHU Cable or gas bottles when they sell it. They wont even leave the gas bottle fittings as they will all be replaced. If you dont take it out then it will be a waste. Of course if you know who is buying it then this is different but not if a dealer.

There's a thought zzzac. We were going to leave the whole Gaslow system in because the one we are buying has one in already. Thought it would be a nice surprise for the next person. I must check when he comes - that would really be a waste.

Don't wait until he comes to get the van phone him now and ask him. Personally I'd be taking it out and selling it if your new van already has gaslow fitted.

The van has gone, we left the system in because the dealer was very fair with us. Thanks for all your input folks. Big gap on the drive now until July 6th.
