Can't help with insurance as our vehicle was German registered and those countries were all covered, but we really enjoyed Albania and Montenegro (especially inland) when we came back from Turkey last year.
We camped about 10k north of Dubrovnik and took a bus back to the old city.

Cheers,
peter

Can probably help here, we did this journey last September,
Insurance was bought at the borders and the cost was minimal, perhaps 30e each time, we skipped through Bosnia on the coast road (only a few clicks) without bothering.

Ask away if you need any further info.
