A guy on the Autotrail Owners Forum on Facebook, on a C&CC rally in SW Brittany, has posted that supermarkets and filling stations are currently not accepting UK credit cards. He doesn't mention debit cards. Apparently to do with exchange rate unease.
Says the rally steward is notifying C&CC HQ.
Can anyone corroborate this?

He posted it on here too but it seems to be localised and not affecting everyone

We had some Dutch neighbours on the opposite pitch to us recently and they said they were only waiting for us to vote out and then they would be doing the same.

Maybe he had just reached his credit limit and wanted to blame someone else.
I have never heard of the French refusing an opportunity to take money......

We have found that sometimes cards don't work, even before brexit, always keep a bit of cash handy, not a lot but enough for things like that.
In fact you are just as well drawing cash out everyday and useing that, never been refused at banks.

For reasons I have never understood the French often use facilities within the credit card system that others do not use which can lead non French cards having problems. Just bad luck when you run into it. In the US you find organisations that will refuse to take non US issued cards, even Amex.

Only problem is the exchange rate. I bought fuel last week in Italy using one of the self-service pumps which take cards. Then filled up again this Monday the same way. The exchange rate last week was 1.27, this week 1.19 but that only what we were getting a couple of years ago so can't complain. Unfortunately, some financial punters think it may drop to 1.10 or even parity. We shall see, nothing I can do about it. :)

Which we were also getting just a few years ago.
