Just had a few days in the lakes, incredible weather and had a great time the area was mobbed.
Anyway we did a couple of walks, one was a bit over ambitious for this time of year but this one was very pleasant in the autumn sunshine. This started when we got off the ferry on the Hawkshead side of Windermere. Just a short distance up the hill from the ferry you turn right then follow the lake side for a few miles you reach Wray Castle. On the way back we stopped in the Cuckoo Brow inn great lunch and a glass of wine. The Cuckoo Brow is also a hotel, one that I have noted for a future stay. Our other walk was around the back of Ullswater but a bit more difficult. Great few days away......(y)

Last time we were in the Lakes we walked from Ambleside and picked up your route in reverse.

Cracking walk along the lake, got the ferry back over and bus back to Ambleside :)

That's what the lakes is all about to us the stunning scenery and fantastic walks. We have just completed our 214th Wainwright, have been doing them on our visits over the last few years, its nice to have completed them, so now looking forward to walks not in Alfred's books, off the main tourist routes. I particularly like Ambleside as you can park up and not bother getting in the car again until you leave.

Lots of walks from the centre in all directions :)

Good easy walk around the lake at Keswick. If you get tired you can catch a ferry from several points around the lake.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
Making me jealous last time we were in the lakes I had a pint in the pub at the top of wastewater spent the next day in bed with upset tum while the boss walked up Scafell Pike.

Just a thought have you tried Threkeld Hall Touring Park. Great newish site all pitches hard standing, 16 amp supply, easy access from main road and they are open all year. Have not stayed there yet but we did call in for a look. It looked very good, facilities all spotless and pitch good size. Great views and you can walk to pub and golf course to use their bar which also does food. Its on our list of sites to stay at. Am not connected to the site it was just the sort of site we like, small, scenic and not commercialised(y)(y)

Aw no! I like Mr Trump. Absolutely no political correctness and he speaks his mind. I wish our lot were more like him!
