We have recently bought a swift kontiki 655 (2003) and really love it, but when we are travelling the control panel beeps everytime we accelerate - the dealers we bought it from are great and they are going to have the mh back for a couple of days to investigate - just wondered if anyone else experienced this and if so what the problem was.

Also we have two brand new leisure batteries which the dealers gave us after discovering the leisure batteries we had were no good. We would like to do some wild camping and wonder how long the batteries last if you are using the heating, lights fridge etc- obviously it depends on how warm the mh is inside and how often the fan cuts in but could we be looking at a couple of hours or anything up to 24 hours, or longer? I imagine the heating fan is a big drain on the batteries.

    firstly welcome to the asylum.

cant help with the bleep but.....

you dont say what van you have or what size the batteries are ?

unless you have a compressor fridge, it wont run on 12v unless the engines running so no battery usage there. you'll need to run it on gas only if wilding.

if the batteries are 110ah each then you have 220amps to play with.

if your lights are standard halogen lamps then expect around 1 to 1.5amp per lamp per hour.

heater fan will use the most...between 3 and 6amps or more per hour and will soon flatten the batteries.

water pump..7 to 8amps per hour but its only running a few seconds at a time so negligible usage.

TV....maybe 1 to 2 amps depending on size and type.

never let the batteries run below 50% discharged at the very most or they could be damaged, so that 220amps is really 110amps.

    Hi Debbie

We have seen this problem before.
It is common for the vehicle to send a spike to the panel which in turn may make the unit beep. The way to resolve this is to remove the panel and the electrical connections to the rear and by simply refitting it all will stop your beeping (re-booting).
You may find that you have to repeat this from time to time.

    Regards

My husband has just told me the dealers have already disconnected the panel and tried it with a different panel but it still beeps.
Its strange because it is only when you pull away quite sharply.
