continental tyres (1 Viewer)

i had a tyre blow out on saturday got it sorted on saturday night .
but on monday had a good look at my tyres .i took the decissian to get two new tyres and put them on the front .and the front tyres on the rear .
front tyres are only 18 months old .
on removing one of the front wheels found that it had a cut right round its diameter between the grove of the tread .
so i called continental and told them of this problem ,
and big supprise thay told me its not uncommon on a m/home tyre .
and to take it back to the dealer i got it from so he can send it to them for me to get a pro-rata refound .
the tyres on my m/home are the continental vanco camper 225/75R16 .
and my m/home is never left standing for long .
so take a look at your tyres.

had one do that in France last year but a 2 inch strip came off all the way round, without going down !!!! as we had dual wheels on the rear of the old LDV we went another 100 miles before we got it changed in spain, thought it would cost an arm and a leg but got it done at the opel garage in Lloret de Mar for 80 euros at 7 o clock at night while we waited.

that sounds like the way mine was going .
next time take it back as continental are very helpfull .
and yes i like the tyres as well

hi tyres were about 18 months old date on tyre week 50 year 10
thay had done around 14k miles

Thanks for info, i like the tyres but the first lot i had on my last van only lasted 7000miles on the front but current contis on new van have done 5500 miles and absolutely no sign of wear.

But will keep a regular check on them.. thanks.:thumb:

no idea how many miles theyd done , i did about 20k on it and it was on the van when i had it. loads of tread on though
