Hi Goldenoldies,

The Al-Ko plate is the "Stage-2" conversion plate so ignore the Fiat one. If that plate reads "4000kg" at the top then that is your MTPLM.

If your van is coming out at 4120kg then you are indeed 120kg overloaded.

You may be able to upgrade to 4200kg without adding extra suspension/uprating tyres - speak with SVTech (cost me £288 incl vat on a previous motorhome). Otherwise shed some weight ::bigsmile:

Been following this weight thing for a bit now as our van is only 3400 on the plate and seeing you guys over 4 ton I thought I get weighed today well with just me in and more or less in touring trim but without the mrs and only half full diesel and water I only came out at 2740 so according to that I've got about another 8 cwt spare::bigsmile:

sorry to make things worse, but if you weighed without your beloved one (wife and or dog) you are going to be even more overweight!!

Are you sure you are looking at the correct figure and not the train weight?

The MTPLM for our 2004 Autoquest 100 was 2900Kg and (according to the manual) it was the same for the 200 models. The 300 & 400 models had MTPLM of 3200Kg.

If the two axle weights added up exactly to that of the maximum weight then you would have and extra problem.

Not only would you

(i) have you ensure that the total weight was equal to or below the maximum weight
(ii) you would have to ensure that the weight was very carefully distributed around he van so as to ensure that the two axles were not loaded above their maximum loads.

As the two axle weights add up to quite a bit more than the maximum weight you have much more freedom as to where you can store the load.

Yes, I was thinking we couldn't be very heavy for what we have on board but when I said 8 cwt spare I meant with the mrs in and full up with water and diesel and other bits and pieces, I have took everything out that we don't use , overcab bedding , satilitte kit, bike rack , full tool kit now we have breakdown cover, now manage with one battery as well, no problem so we have room to bring 400 bottles of wine back now:winky: Result:thumb:
